Harrogate Borough Council setup new local lottery

10 June 2018

Harrogate Borough Council are encouraging voluntary and community groups to find out more about a new online lottery which they say will benefit their work.

The local lotto will launch later this year and, in anticipation, four information sessions are being organised next month.

The new lottery is a fundraising opportunity for local voluntary and community groups, which also enables players to support the organisations they care about most.

60 pence will go to local charities, voluntary organisations and community groups.  Players can win a £25,000 jackpot plus smaller, weekly, prizes.

The lottery is being promoted jointly by the council and The Local Fund for the Harrogate District.

Interested organisations are being invited to sign-up to attend one of four information sessions about the new lottery.  They are being held on:

Tuesday 19 June at Community House in Ripon

Wednesday 20 June at Chain Lane community centre in Knaresborough

Monday 25 June at Civic Centre in Harrogate

Wednesday 27 June at the Methodist Hall in Pateley Bridge

Each event will begin promptly at 5.30pm.

Attendees will be told how the lottery will work and how their organisations can be involved.

Organisations wishing to attend must register by Wednesday 13 June via www.harrogate.gov.uk/lotto

Councillor Richard Cooper, leader of the council, said:

The Local Lotto stands to transform the way voluntary and community groups across the district raise money to support the work they do.

We are very pleased to be able to support this initiative.

If you help to run a good cause, I urge you to sign-up for one of these information sessions so that you don’t miss out on a great opportunity.
