Vote for Martin House as Hospice of the Year

15 May 2018

A Yorkshire hospice has been named as a finalist in the Charity Today Awards Hospice of the Year contest.

Martin House Hospice Care for Children and Young People is one of two finalists across the country hoping to win the title, competing against St Margaret’s Hospice in Somerset.

Martin House cares for children and young people with life-limiting conditions, from across West, North and East Yorkshire, providing respite stays at its hospice in Boston Spa, along with supporting them in their own homes. It also provides end of life care and bereavement support to families.

Clair Holdsworth, director of care at Martin House, said:

We’re delighted to be nominated for this award, and excited that a children’s hospice is in the final of a national competition.

It’s a tribute to the dedication and commitment of all the staff and volunteers to ensuring the children and young people we care for have the chance to live the best lives they can, and that families can make precious memories together.

Martin House opened more than 30 years ago, and it costs more than £8 million a year to run, most of which comes from fundraising and donations.

To vote, people need to follow Charity Today Awards on Twitter at https://twitter.com/CharityAwards and then retweet the vote for Martin House tweet. The deadline is Friday 18 May 2018.
