Harrogate Railway Ladies 2017

Harrogate Railway Ladies play their 2nd round match against Doncaster Belles

22 April 2018

After seven long weeks (due to bad weather) Harrogate Railway Ladies finally got to play their second to last match at home against Doncaster Belles. It has been hard to keep the team motivated through the drought of no football, but the railway ladies put in a great performance and dominated the whole match.

It was Erica Brirnie who opened the scoring with a shot from 37 yards out, it sailed over the Doncaster defence and tucked in under the crossbar beating the out stretched keeper,1-0.

Railway pressed for another but not until the 54th minute did Nicola Hadley put in another great cross to find Katherine Coupland in the box to grab Rails second,2-0. New girl to the team Stephanie Postmar came on as a sub on the hour and immediately had an impact down the right side and went on to grabbing her maiden goal two minutes later when Emma Lansdall set her up at the back post,3-0.

Player of the match Jodi Hodgson went on to make it 4-0 with only fifteen minutes to go with a well taken shot, Doncaster however never gave up and on the 81st minute they broke through the middle and with some confusion in rails back line managed to get a shot on target making it 4-1.

Doncaster pushed on hard and had railway defending hard for the remaining time grabbing another just on the full-time whistle making the final score 4-2.

A great game for Railway with their last match a week on Wednesday night at home against Hgt Town.
