New Headteacher appointed at Oatlands Junior School

27 March 2018

Miss Estelle Weir has been appointed as permanent Headteacher at Oatlands Junior School in Harrogate. She has been Acting Headteacher since Summer 2017, and a teacher at the school for 7 years.

Mr Chris Tulley, Chair of Governors, said:

This appointment is clearly a very important one for our school and it has been made following national advertising of the post and a two day selection process involving a strong field of external candidates.

The appointment is richly deserved and recognises the huge and positive impact Miss Weir has had on our school since stepping up to the role of Acting Headteacher last year.

On Friday, Miss Weir received flowers and champagne in assembly and the children and staff all enjoyed passing on their congratulations in true karaoke style, singing and dancing to Kool and the Gang’s ‘Celebration!’

Miss Weir said:

It has been lovely to receive so many messages of congratulations from children, parents, staff and governors on my appointment as Headteacher. The surprise assembly this morning is one that I will remember for a long time.

I am looking forward to working with everyone in continuing to lead our fantastic school onward and upward.

The school is part of the Red Kite Learning Trust, Richard Sheriff, CEO,  said:

We are delighted to have recruited the services of Estelle to lead the school, we are confident that she has the skills, enthusiasm and commitment to make Oatlands Junior School truly outstanding.
