A sporting week at Willow Tree Primary School

26 March 2018

Pupils at Willow Tree Primary School have been demonstrating their sporting prowess to the max over the last week.

Children in years 4,5 & 6 got the chance to try their hand at tennis thanks to a kind invitation by Starbeck Tennis Club to come and experience their brilliant facilities. The children had a fantastic time and we hope to have inspired some budding future Wimbledon Stars!

The school also had a number of children representing the school in the School Games Cross Country Finals at Dalby Forest – something the school says that they really proud of with Serena coming 14th and Murray coming 6th.

Five of our year 6 children also tried their hand at hockey at the Quicksticks event at St Aidan’s. The enthusiastic team finished 6th after two rounds of matches with great goals being scored by Theo and William.

Helen Davey, Headteacher at Willow Tree Primary School said:

We pride ourselves on offering a wide range of sporting experiences for our pupils within the school itself with facilities such as our newly re-built swimming pool and extensive playing fields. This coupled with the number of opportunities provided by local clubs such as Starbeck Tennis Club and inter-school tournaments means our pupils are continually being offered new and exciting sports to take part in.
