Pannal Players’ venture into the deep, dark wood for their production of ‘Little Red: Ridin’ in da Hood’

5 February 2018

Pannal Players are inviting audiences to join them in the deep, dark wood this February half-term for their forthcoming production of ‘Little Red: Ridin’ in da Hood’.

As the name suggests, the pantomime offers a modern-day twist on this traditional fable as Little Red is joined by her gang of fairy tale heroines, namely Snow White, Cinders and Belle, to take on the fearsome wolf and his lupine sidekicks.

Set in the ancient forest of Knaresborough, the wolf’s quest for a tasty treat is continually scuppered. Along the way he encounters a man-eating Grandma, played by former Mayor of Harrogate, Mike Newby, a lovestruck huntsman and the sassy Little Red and friends. Will their combined effort be enough to thwart the wolf and his voracious appetite?

Brimming with girl power and urban attitude, the action is accompanied by a fast-paced soundtrack ranging from 1970s rap to modern day funk and a dialogue laden with double-entendres.

Performances run each evening at 7.30pm from Wednesday 14th to Saturday 17th February with a Saturday matinee performance at 2.30 pm at Pannal Village Hall, Station Road, Pannal, HG3 1JJ.
