Rudding Park Spa marks breast cancer awareness month by partnering with Jennifer Young and the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Cancer Centre

4 October 2017

Rudding Park Spa in Harrogate has introduced a range of treatments for those living with and beyond cancer.

Jennifer Young has created a range of skincare products and treatments for those with cancer. They provide products and training and have partnered with Rudding Park.

The Spa, which opened in May, has also partnered with The Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Cancer Centre, part of Harrogate Hospital, to offer additional support to those in the local area.

A recent survey estimates that 97% of spas and salons in the UK refuse to offer treatments for those with cancer.

On the partnership with Rudding Park, Jennifer commented:

I am delighted to work with the team at Rudding Park Spa. I was impressed by the very difficult, searching and technical questions posed by the team.

Their spa is spectacular, as is their determination to be the best that they can be for all, no matter what their medical status. Anyone visiting the spa will agree they have more than achieved their aim. I am very proud to contribute to the services offered in their beautiful, natural and luxurious surroundings.

Dedicated therapists have been trained by Jennifer to offer treatments including a Mind and Body Balance soothing full body massage, a glow-inducing Blissful Facial, a Gentle Manicure with luxurious peach kernel oil and macadamia oil and a Gentle Pedicure to soothe and nourish the feet with organic oils and a pampering polish.

On this important offering Matthew Mackaness, Rudding Park Spa Director commented:

We have been disappointed by the lack of care offered to those living with and beyond cancer by the spa industry and wanted to end the discrimination; it was one of the core values when creating our spa. We are thrilled to be working with Jennifer Young who brings the world of beauty to those affected with cancer and we have also partnered with the Sir Robert Macmillan Cancer Centre in Harrogate to reach out and support those in the local area.

The Rudding Park Spa team have welcomed nurses from The Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Cancer Centre so they can experience the Jennifer Young treatments for themselves and also coach the therapists on how best to approach what can be sensitive situations.

The spa therapists have also visited the centre to gain a better understanding of the patient’s wellness needs and from January will be volunteering their time as The Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre open a suite of wellbeing rooms to offer a range of services beneficial to women undergoing treatment for cancer.

Sarah Grant from the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Cancer Centre in Harrogate commented:

We are thrilled to be working with Rudding Park Spa. For many people, having a cancer diagnosis prevents access to a spa environment. Yet we know from our patients attending the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre, the therapeutic benefits of being able to experience tranquillity and relaxation cannot be underestimated. Matthew and his team have created a perfect sanctuary at Rudding Park Spa which we are sure will prove to be well received.
