Court notice for “road rage” case: Man who pleaded guilty to assaulting female cyclist near Harrogate

A 46-year-old man from Lofthouse, Harrogate, is due to be sentenced at York Crown Court on Monday (25 September 2017) after pleading guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm on a female cyclist.

The incident occurred on Low Wath Road, Pateley Bridge, Harrogate, at around 1pm on 11 May 2017.

 

The defendant was in a silver Ford Transit at the time of the incident. He stopped the vehicle to confront the woman and then pulled her off her bike.

The 38-year-old victim, who is a semi-professional triathlete from Harrogate, suffered a broken pelvis and cuts and bruises to her lower back and head which required treatment.

The case has been committed to York Crown Court for sentencing after previous hearings at Harrogate Magistrates’ Court.
