Crowd Funding for Knaresborough-on-the-beach

28 March 2017

Henshaws Arts & Crafts Centre in Knaresborough has set up a crowd funding campaign to help bring its popular beach back to the town this summer.

The Urban Beach is part of the Knaresborough feva festival, held in the town every August, and has played host to hundreds of families over the past three years.

This year the Centre needs to raise £2,500 to ensure it can happen again for both locals and visitors to the town. To help it raise the funds, simply visit http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/henshaws-urban-beach and donate.

The project sees a grassed area at the Centre transformed with top quality sand into an exciting urban beach. Live music and face painting plus other arts and crafts add to the holiday atmosphere as well as allowing the Arts & Crafts Centre to showcase the work of its disabled Art Makers, raising funds in the process.

And the Centre does not expect something for nothing: anyone who contributes can expect a reward in the form of a custom-made thank you card or artwork handmade by the Henshaws Art Makers.

Henshaws fundraiser Rachael Pratt said: Unfortunately the feva committee has been unable to fund the beach this year so we are looking at alternative ways to ensure it can still happen. It is such an important part of the feva festival and the £2,500 will help us to cover the cost of the sand and the machinery and equipment for putting it into place so that the families of Knaresborough can enjoy the beach once again We have already raised some funds but we really need the town and the surrounding area to support us. Then all we need is some sunshine!
