Rudding Park Horto restaurant to extend its run

3 October 2016

Rudding Park has confirmed its pop up restaurant, Horto – originally planned to ‘pop up’ for the summer – has proved so popular it will remain open in its current location until April 2017.

Horto Restaurant will then relocate to the hotel’s new £9.5m spa development due to open May 2017.

Peter Banks Managing Director said:

The whole team quite literally put their heart and soul into creating the Horto Experience. Taking inspiration from Head Chef, Murray Wilson, Kitchen Gardener Adrian Reeve and the interior design team, we’ve turned our vision into a reality and created a new contemporary dining experience which our guests seem to love.

Whilst pop up restaurants may be increasingly popular, if you get it right and it proves a success, why put an end to all that hard work and investment! Given the feedback has been so positive it makes perfect sense for us to keep Horto open so many more guests can try the Horto experience for themselves.

Latin for kitchen garden, Horto uses seasonal ingredients from Rudding Park Kitchen Garden. The menu is dictated by nature, the skill of the gardener and the flair of the Chef.

The Horto dining experience offers an a la carte menu and tasting menu which change on a regular basis. If the tasting menu is selected, guests are encouraged to resist the temptation to look at the menu and discover the dishes and taste sensations as they go. Guests can expect a sense of food theatre as chefs and waiters interact to create a friendly and relaxed ambience within a dramatic setting with bold interiors.

A familiar face on the Harrogate/Yorkshire food scene, Murray previously worked at Norse, Hotel du Vin and The Yorke Arms in Ramsgill where he perfected classic techniques. In 2008 Murray was second on Masterchef: The Professionals and he has also worked at Atelier Restaurant in Ottawa, Canada and for Gordon Ramsay at Claridge’s.

Murray said:

We’ve only been open four months and we have built up a fantastic following. I am looking forward to continuing to build on this and really excited about the move to the new spa extension in the Spring.
