Bosch Author’s UK Launch in Harrogate

22 September 2016

One of the biggest names in crime fiction, Michael Connelly, launches his new book on publication day at a one-off event presented by Harrogate International Festivals.

The Event is brought to Harrogate through Theakston’s, the title sponsor of the Crime Festival, whose support continues to underpin the work of Harrogate International Festivals, in bringing world leading authors to our district.

An Evening with Michael Connelly begins at 7.30pm on 18 October 2016 at the Crown Hotel. Audiences will be able to get their hands on his new book, The Wrong Side of Goodbye, on the day of its UK release. Connelly will be holding a book signing after the event.

Gemma Rowland, Operations Manager at Harrogate International Festivals which delivers the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival, said:

Our crime writing festival is considered the best in the world, and Michael Connelly routinely comes up as one of the most popular authors audiences want to see in Harrogate. It’s an honour that he has chosen Harrogate to appear on the very date his new book launches in the UK. The ticket price of £25 is also brilliant value as it includes a copy of the new hardback, which costs £19.99

Harrogate has hosted a series of one-off crime writing events outside of its annual July festival. Last year, Jo Nesbo launched his 2015 thriller, Blood on Snow, on the eve of its publication with the Festival.

Simon Theakston, Executive Director of T&R Theakston, said: “Michael Connelly is a global superstar in crime fiction, and this special launch event speaks volumes about the influence of our Festival on both sides of the Atlantic. Harrogate and Theakston has become synonymous with the genre, with a reputation as the crime writing capital of Europe.”

Connelly attended the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival in 2005, and is a fan of Harrogate. He said:

Harrogate is a must. With beautiful locale, smart panels and superb author interaction, it’s one of the best festivals I’ve ever attended.
