Blooming marvellous! Harrogate Borough Council gardeners celebrate their recent success in the Yorkshire in Bloom awards after picking up a GOLD award in the Public, Private and Charitable Establishments category for Knaresborough House and a GOLD award in the Visitor Attraction category for Knaresborough Castle.
Keith Whincup a gardener at Knaresborough House said:
We are over the moon! Everyone has worked really hard this year to ensure that our gardens look fantastic for visitors.
The flagpole bed at Knaresborough House has been transformed – rather than using normal bedding plants, we decided to do something a little different and used Fair Trade recognised banana plants. This has certainly been well received by the public and we have had some great comments.
We are now already thinking about what other eye catching displays we can create for next year, which will hopefully be as popular with the public and the Yorkshire in Bloom judges.
