Andy’s on board with Transdev for exciting journey

7 September 2016

Transport group Transdev is welcoming a new face on board its buses in Yorkshire and Lancashire – graduate management trainee Andy Turnbull.

Andy, from Bedale in North Yorkshire, joins after graduating from the University of Leeds’ Institute of Transport Studies.

A student member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Andy is a passionate transport fan – as a volunteer at the Wensleydale Railway in North Yorkshire, he’s no stranger to delivering great customer service.
Andy also loves to travel, having recently returned from a marathon tour across Europe with friends.

Transdev CEO Alex Hornby said:

Andy will be spending his first few weeks with us meeting the teams at all six of our depots across Yorkshire and Lancashire, before going through an 18-month programme experiencing the variety of work at all levels within our business across the north, and our fellow Transdev operations in the UK and Ireland.

It’s critical to get the right grounding in your career and that’s why the first element of Andy’s programme will be to progress through a full PCV test and spend a number of weeks driving our buses and getting the very best of experiences of what our teams do at the sharp end.

Andy is a great ‘local lad’, having grown up and studied in Yorkshire, and is a very enthusiastic advocate of improving public transport. I know he’ll be a great addition to our amazing team here at Transdev as we look firmly to the future and develop great new industry talent.

After completing his bus driver training and time ‘on the road’, Andy will spend time at each of Transdev’s depots, in Malton, York, Harrogate, Keighley, Burnley and Blackburn, before extending his knowledge by working alongside the company’s finance, marketing, engineering and commercial teams.

He’ll also move around other areas of Transdev UK & Ireland, including the Dublin light rail system Luas, the UK’s first eco car hire service Green Tomato Cars in London, the market leading crew-transfer business CCH at Heathrow Airport and Merseyside-based executive taxi and private hire car supplier Cabfind.com
