Slip Inn becomes Last Post Social House

19 August 2016

New life is being breathed in the Slip Inn on the Cold Bath road in Harrogate.

The pub is now in the hands of Boothwood Ltd and re-development is well underway. The internals have been completed gutted and a re-fit will shortly be complete, turning it into the Last Post Social House

Boothwood has 6 food and drink venues including well regarded sea food restaurants. As with many of their other developments they have taken a very tired public house and transformed it.

Speaking the the creative director, Richard Stuttle, he explained the concept is more about returning to Social House and somewhere people can meet and have a drink.

Richard said:

This will be for anyone who likes good beer and a friendly atmosphere. We are aiming on returning the venue to a style of venue that perhaps there used to be.

It’s a place that is more for the creative types and you can simply enjoy meeting people, playing pub games while having a drink.

We are not serving food as we felt that there are many places to eat and it didn’t  fit the social house concept. We wanted to develop a very relaxed feel, not somewhere you could feel uncomfortable if you are not eating a meal.

They will have a selection of cocktails, wine, prosecco and craft beers. The selection will vary and feature guest beers, including local breweries.

Kita Hudson is from Harrogate and has many years in the local bar scene. Kita will become deputy manager.

We have a great team coming together that will be a friendly face of the pub. The pub has a lot more building work to go and will look fantastic when complete. A great looking building is only part of what we need and I will make sure we get the service and welcome right.

We are going to sky sports, live music, quiz nights and possibly cinema nights – it’s about listening to what local people want and making things happen!

Cold Bath road in Harrogate is becoming an increasingly vibrant area of the town.

Richard added:

We are very happy with the location as there are a number of very vibrant businesses near by. There’s some great coffee shops and restaurants and also an art gallery.

We feel that those businesses compliment what we do as when we looked at the area, what we felt was lacking was just somewhere to have a drink.

It’s great to see the redevelopment of this venue. Increasingly there is more support for the out of town centre places like 10 Devonshire Arms and So! Bar with people choosing a more relaxed drink.

The doors will open at 5pm on 25 August 2016 with a ribbon cutting by the deputy mayor.
