Revolucion de Cuba Invests £1m to bring Latin America to Harrogate

3 August 2016

Revolucion de Cuba has announced plans to bring its unique brand of Latin American inspired dining and entertainment to a prime town centre site in Harrogate.

The £1m investment on Parliament Street will see the creation of 60 news jobs and the transformation of the former Rehab nightclub premises into a rustic themed cantina and cocktail bar with spinning ceiling fans, vintage furniture and a live music stage.

Work is already underway at the site, with the venue expected to open in early October.

General Manager Will Kershaw, who lives in Killinghall, said the decision to invest in Harrogate reflected the town’s rising reputation as a leading lifestyle destination in the North of England.

Will said:

Harrogate is widely recognised as a vibrant and cosmopolitan town and this is reflected in its growing ability to attract considerable investment as it evolves.

With so many new developments, including the imminent launch of a new cinema, we felt this was the perfect time to bring something a little bit different to the town.

We are really excited to be launching our 10th Revolucion de Cuba venue in Harrogate and to be investing significantly in the local economy by creating jobs and developing a prominent site in the heart of the town.

Will said the venue’s Harrogate team was being recruited locally ahead of an intensive two-week training programme.

Will said:

The process of developing a local team who share our enthusiasm for great food, drink and music is already well underway.

Staff will be given extensive training to help them bring a taste of Cuba to Harrogate along with the fun and passion that our Revolucion de Cuba venues have become famous for.

As well as live music events, cocktail masterclasses and Cuban dining, the Harrogate venue will offer special events, networking events and private parties.

Will added:

The Revolucion de Cuba team will be very much a part of the local community as well as a feature of the bar and dining scene.

We are looking forward to getting to know our fellow businesses and supporting the local events and causes that make Harrogate such a dynamic place to live and work.

Following a relatively short 3 months of marketing, Leeds-based Retail & Leisure specialists Pudney Shuttleworth successfully let the former Rehab Bar and Club on Parliament Street in Harrogate to Revolucion De Cuba.

Tom Hodgson from Pudney Shuttleworth said:

We are delighted to bring this operation to Harrogate. It is no secret that Harrogate is experiencing a huge uplift in its leisure offering with national operators including Five Guys, Yo Sushi, Byron Burgers and Cote all recently committing to the town. Various other major leisure occupiers are in solicitors hands negotiating their leases and due to open their doors during the next 6 months or so, further consolidating the town as one of North Yorkshire’s top destinations. Revolucion De Cuba will bring something completely new to Parliament Street and the significant number of jobs created is good news for all.
