Sponsorship delight at North Stainley Cricket Club

29 July 2016

Players at North Stainley Cricket Club are wearing their shirts with pride this season following sponsorship from Harrogate accountants Lithgow Perkins.

The company has sponsored the junior shirts for the Under 11, 13, 15 and 17 mixed teams, and their logo is also on the shirts of the club’s three senior teams.

Julie Puttock, secretary of North Stainley Cricket Club, said everyone was delighted with the new shirts.

Julie said:

To get that level of sponsorship is brilliant for the club because everybody now looks the same, we’ve got an image.

There’s a huge sense of pride when our teams turn up and everybody is dressed the same.

North Stainley Cricket Club has three senior teams, two of which play on a Saturday and one on a Wednesday in divisions 5 and 8 of the Nidderdale League. The season is going well and they are vying for promotion in both divisions.

The evening league senior team recently won the MMP cup final at Whixley. The team was captained by a 16-year-old boy, which emphasises the club’s focus on bringing youngsters up through the ranks.

The club also has seven junior mixed teams and two girls-only teams, with children coming from as far afield as Redcar and Malton to take part in the matches.

Juniors play in the Nidderdale League for the respective age groups and some play in the Hambleton League. In June, the Under 9s won the Coad Cup at Studley Royal, beating other teams from the Nidderdale Junior League.

The sponsorship came about because Lithgow partner Robert Horner’s son plays for the club.

Robert said:

We’re delighted to offer sponsorship to North Stainley Cricket Club, which gives such great opportunities to girls and boys of all ages, as well as senior players.

We think the new shirts look very smart and hope they bring all the teams lots of luck for the season!
