Festival town centre box office big launch

21 June 2016

Harrogate International Festivals launches its Town Centre Box Office on Saturday 25 June at the Victoria Shopping Centre Piazza, Harrogate.

The launch will feature street theatre, music, children’s games and book giveaways.

The Festival is inviting Harrogate to ‘Unlock the summer’ and join in its 2016 theme to ‘Discover, Explore and Experiment’ in its special 50th anniversary year.

Music Festivals Manager, Marc Dunleavy, said:

Tying in with our theme this year, we’ll be creating a ‘Tree of Discovery’. There’ll be a number of model trees across the town featuring luggage tags with keys. We want you to write down and share your memories of the Festivals from over the last 50 years to help us commemorate our anniversary, and also to share any thoughts and recommendations of our stellar acts coming up in July. We’ll have a number of prizes and giveaways for people taking part.

The Town Centre Box Office will also be asking audiences to have a blind date with a book, with the chance to discover something new, as the festival team hand out free wrapped books.

Harrogate International Festivals delivers two major literary festivals in July. Julia Bradbury, John Suchet, Jeremy Bowen and Mary Portas are a few of the names appearing at the Raworths Harrogate Literature Festival from 7-10 July at The Crown Hotel.

Val McDermid, Martina Cole, Peter James, Jeffery Deaver, Gerald Seymour, Tess Gerritsen and Linwood Barclay are all Special Guests at the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival from 21-24 July at the Old Swan Hotel.

The 2016 Harrogate Music Festival officially begins on July 1 with a weekend dedicated to the John Wilson Orchestra, including a very special tea dance at the Royal Hall. Highlights include Sir Willard White, The Unthanks, the Czech National Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists.

As well as being able to purchase tickets for all festival events, audiences will be able to find out information about upcoming events from the Festival team, take part in competitions, and access exclusive ticket offers.

The Town Centre Box Office, Victoria Shopping Piazza opposite the train station, will open Tuesday-Sunday, 10am-3pm until Sunday 23 July.
