The event’s organisers selected Martin House as their charity of choice, raising £8,188.99 through activities on the night, including a raffle, silent auction and public collection.

In attendance at the cheque presentation were Customer Service award winners, Grinkle Park; Inspirational Individual of the Year, Richard McCann; Young Achiever of the Year, Adam Bricklebank; and Local Fundraiser of the Year, Ann Newton.

Yorkshire Choice Awards Founders, Melanie Malcolm and Jo Maltby, said:

We are delighted to have raised this substantial sum for the hospice.

Martin House changes lives for so many families across the region and that is exactly what our awards are about – people making a difference. We are very grateful to everyone who supported the awards over the past months and to those who made donations on the night. couldn’t have done it without you!

Corporate Fundraiser at Martin House, John Haigh, said:

We are privileged to have been selected as the charity of choice for the Yorkshire Choice Awards. Not only have the team raised a fantastic sum for our families; they have raised awareness across the region of the vital services we offer to over 420 children and young people and 150 bereaved families each year. We are hugely grateful for the support of Jo, Melanie, and all involved in the awards, and wish them the best success with next year’s event.
