Family day full of fun for Knaresborough Castle

23 May 2016

Fresh air, fun and no end of activities are on offer at Knaresborough Castle’s Family Fun Day on Saturday (28 May 2016).

Following the success of last year’s event, the 2016 fun day features hockey and kwik cricket for the sport minded; the more creative are catered for with arts and crafts, and there are giant board games for anyone who wants to give their brain a bit of a workout.

The fun day starts at 11am and goes all the way through to 4pm, which means there’s also time to uncover the secrets of the castle’s underground tunnel and dungeon, or visit the museum to learn all about Knaresborough’s past.

There are new Civil War displays to discover and the original Tudor courtroom is anything but a trial.

All the family fun day activities are free; entry to the museum, the King’s tower and tunnel are £2 for adults and £1 for children.

The family fun day at Knaresborough Castle is just one of a host of events being organised by Harrogate Borough Council’s Museums and Arts for May half term.

There are new family activities for the Royal Pump Room Museum on Crown Place in Harrogate, including discovering about Ancient Greece or dressing like an Egyptian, whilst across the road at the Mercer Art Gallery portrait, landscape and sculpture skills can be put to the test.

For more information about all these activities, including opening times and admission prices for the Pump Room, go to www.harrogate.gov.uk/museums or telephone (01423) 556188.
