Work to repair landslip damage near Darley

11 May 2016

Work to repair damage caused by a landslip on Darley Road between Stumps Lane, Darley, and Lackon Bank, Birstwith, is due to begin on Monday, 16 May 2016.

The edge of the road was damaged by a landslip. The work is designed to prevent any further landslip and is expected to take eight weeks. It will involve excavating and reinstating the carriageway and putting in kerbing to protect the edges of the road from the risk of landslip.

The work will take place between 7.30am and 5.30pm, but because of the need to excavate the carriageway the road will be closed throughout the period of the work. A diversion route will be signed.

County Councillor Don Mackenzie, Executive Member for Highways, said:

This is an important piece of work to protect the road in this area. It is part of an extensive programme, so it is possible that unforeseen circumstances, such as severe weather, could require changes to the start date or duration of the work.

We apologise for any disruption caused by the work and ask for the cooperation of local residents to help to ensure the work can be done as efficiently and safely as possible.
