Harrogate accountancy firm announces new partner

4 May 2016

Harrogate chartered accountancy firm Saffery Champness has appointed one of its senior team to the role of partner in a move that recognises the expansion of its landed estates and not-for-profit advisory work.

Sally Appleton joined the firm’s Harrogate office 11 years ago and in that time has built a team dedicated to working with charities and other not-for-profit organization, as well as developing a specialism in the complex tax and family issues affecting landed estates and rural businesses.

Her appointment brings the number of partners in the Harrogate office to five following the appointment last year of Sally Thomas as tax partner.

Sally Appleton works with landed estates in and around Yorkshire, advising the owners of rural businesses on strategic matters and tax planning, involving all financial and business aspects. Her not-for-profit clients include charitable trusts, independent schools and academies.

Martin Holden, head of office, said:

Sally is knowledgeable and approachable, making her an ideal candidate for partner.

It is very exciting to be bringing bright young talent into the senior team and in two very specialist areas – landed estate and not-for-profit – both of which are growing markets for us in Harrogate.

Sally Appleton said:

I’m delighted to have this opportunity to work alongside such an experienced team of partners in Harrogate and as part of the firm’s renowned Landed Estates Group nationwide.

I am very grateful for the opportunities and training the firm has provided to help me fulfil my ambitions and develop my career. The Harrogate office has considerable expertise in advising rural businesses, landed estates and not-for-profit organisations and I am looking forward to playing a key role in growing these markets.
