Work is due to start later this month on a new road and junction at Pannal to enable the redevelopment of the former Dunlopillo industrial site.
The road will provide access to a new dementia care facility being built by dementia care specialists Vida Healthcare, as well as a planned residential development on the site.
A new roundabout will be built on the A61 at Pannal to the south of Spacey Houses to provide access to the development, which is behind Stratstone BMW. The route has an approved landscaping and lighting design for the roadside and incorporates the relocation of environmentally sensitive grasslands.
Th roundabout will be South of the BMW garage and not near the current junction. The majority of the roundabout will be on the adjacent land.
The delays currently being experienced through Pannal are due to temporary road traffic control due to gas works.
The access road is being built by the developer after consultation with North Yorkshire County Council to provide the safest and least obtrusive thoroughfare to the new development. Work is scheduled to start on 25 April and to finish in October. Discussions about traffic management between the developer and the County Council have been held to keep disruption to a minimum.
The project is being managed by Projex Building Solutions. The principal contractor for the road is AE Yates, from Lostock, Bolton, and GMI Construction is responsible for the main building works on the care facility.
Before work begins, an information drop-in session will be held at Pannal Memorial Hall between 5pm and 7pm on Tuesday, 19 April, when representatives of AE Yates will attend to address questions and concerns.

The County Council has worked closely with the developer to minimise disruption to road users and will monitor progress during the project.
This is a very significant development at a principal entry point into the town. The construction of a new roundabout, considered the most effective way of creating access onto the A61, is a major piece of work, but much of it can be carried out away from the highway. Both the County Council and the contractor know that disruption to the Leeds Road needs to be kept to a minimum.
