Family fun for the holidays at Mercer Art Gallery and Royal Pump Room Museum

25 March 2016

Two weeks of fantastic family fun are on offer at the Mercer Art Gallery and Royal Pump Room Museum in Harrogate this Easter.

The two attractions, just a few steps away from each other, are hosting a range of activities to keep youngsters busy – and happy – over the school holidays.

There is a special Easter trail to complete, taking in exhibitions and displays across the two sites.  A prize will be awarded for completing each venue’s section but there’s chocolate if you complete it at both venues!

And on Thursday 7 April today’s youngsters can find out what the ipad and Xbox of their parents’ and grandparents’ generations were, as the gallery gives them a chance to be a toy curator for the day, getting their hands on replica and modern toys to make their very own museum display.

The session also includes a trip to the nearby Royal Pump Room Museum to see the toys on display there.

The ‘Be a Toy Curator for the Day’ sessions are on Thursday 7 April, 10am – 12pm and 1pm – 3pm. Booking is recommended as these fun events are always extremely popular.  The cost is £3 per child and under 8s must be accompanied by a grown up.

The Easter trail is running throughout the North Yorkshire school holidays.

At the Royal Pump Room museum the trail will enable youngsters to explore the story of Harrogate as a premier spa town, find out about old spa treatments – some more pleasant than others! – and enjoy scientific investigations in the popular Ancient Egypt exhibition.
