16 March 2016

The grand finale of the Strictly Get Dancing competition took place at the Engine Shed in Wetherby, West Yorkshire. Now in its third year, the sell out event saw 16 couples from across the Yorkshire region, Waltz and Cha-Cha-Cha in aid of Martin House children’s hospice, the leading, local Yorkshire charity that cares for children and young people with progressive life shortening illnesses, and provides support for their families.

Dancers were treated to a full makeover by stylists from Westrow in Wetherby, before dazzling the crowds with an enchanting display of contemporary dancing. Backstage, talented Stylists, Karen Hilton and Connie O’Toole of Westrow Wetherby, were on hand to craft star quality looks for all 32 contestants.

Westrow also donated a raffle prize of a cut and finish to ensure that one lucky winner could enjoy the stylish services the Wetherby salon has to offer.

The evening was once again hosted by ITV Yorkshire’s Duncan Wood and judges included President of the Dance Teacher’s Association 2014/15, Jane Tumelty, Emmerdale’s Jeff Hordley, The Grumbleweeds’ Robin Colvill and ITV Yorkshire Calendar’s Christine Talbot.

The event raised in excess of £40,000 and will be returning for the fourth time next year.

Sally Plain, Franchisee, Westrow Wetherby:

Martin House children’s hospice is the local charity to Westrow Wetherby, and the salon actively supports it with various fundraising initiatives throughout the year.

We have styled the contestants at the Strictly Get Dancing event for the last three years; it is a thoroughly enjoyable evening, which raises a fantastic amount of money for our salon’s chosen charity, so long may it continue.
