Harrogate Borough Council will resume garden waste collections from next week (Monday 14 March) after the winter break.
The service isn’t operated during the winter period as demand reduces due to the low levels of green waste being produced.
Households in the Harrogate district should put out their brown lidded garden waste bins on their usual kerbside recycling collection day.
In case you don’t have a shredder for plant waste, the garden waste bins can be used for grass cuttings, twigs and small branches, hedge cuttings, leaves, cut flowers, prunings and plants.
Vegetables, vegetable peelings, fruit, plant pots, plastic, soil/turf/compost, bricks, rubble, large branches and Japanese Knotweed should not be put into the garden waste bin as it will not be emptied if it contains this waste.
Councillor Michael Harrison, Cabinet Member for Environment, Waste Reduction and Recycling said:
The kerbside green waste collection service is extremely popular with the district’s residents. As the weather improves, more and more people begin to tend to their gardens and they really appreciate the opportunity to have their garden waste collected from the kerbside. By using the service residents can help to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill and help our district become even greener.
