43rd Festival attracts strong international offering

11 March 2016

Organisers of the Harrogate International Youth Festival have confirmed the full line up of guests, including a strong international turn out from USA, Germany, Ireland and Kenya.

Each year the Festival attracts youth talent from across the globe and is famed for being a prestigious event on the performance calendar. 2016 has proved once again to be a huge draw for international groups, including a German choir so inspired by their 2011 visit, that they booked to come again.

Schaumburger Jugenchor has toured extensively in Europe, Asia, America and Africa but the pull of Harrogate’s Youth Festival and the stunning venues in which it takes place, was enough to convince this group to return to Yorkshire this Easter.

Joining them are Coláiste Bhríde (an Irish band), Naisula School Choir (Kenya), Catalina Foothills Marching Band (USA) and of course local and national talent including: Blackburn with Darwin Big Band (UK), Harrogate Sea Cadets, Tewit Youth Band, St Aelred’s Irish Dancers, Harrogate High School Jazz Band and more.

The Festival is famous for high quality youth performances in some of the region’s finest venues and most spectacular locations. Organisers have added Ripley to the outdoor performance list for this year, meaning concert-goers can witness some diverse and spectacular shows in The Royal Hall, Fountains Abbey, Newby Hall and more over the course of Easter Weekend and the following few days.

Lucy Zabaneh, Festival Director for Harrogate International Youth Festival commented:

The fact Harrogate International Youth Festival is able to draw such wonderful international groups is testament to its success and its excellent reputation. When we have groups returning, we know we are putting on something really special and we are thrilled to have Schaumburger Jugendchor with us again for 2016.
