A director of a Harrogate architectural practice has been named the Leeds branch chairman of a national networking initiative for the construction and property industry.

Simon Parker of seven architecture will hold the post at Leeds Interact for two years. He has been a member of the branch for nine years and has served as vice chairman for the past two years.

Interact is a UK-wide network of construction and property business clubs, comprising more than 450 individuals. The aim is to provide senior professionals with the opportunity to develop, strengthen and maintain contacts within their industry.

Simon said:

I’m delighted to become chairman of Interact’s Leeds branch. We’re a thriving, successful group whose members have developed strong and enduring working relationships.

The construction and property sectors have had a tough time over the last few years.

Through the interaction of our members, we have helped generate new commercial opportunities and attract investment to the region.

Interact was established in 1977 and now has more than 25 centres across the UK. Members tend to be forward-thinking, senior decision-makers from a cross-section of the construction and property industries. Membership is by invitation, with each branch comprising a balance of roles, from clients, contractors and developers, to architects, planners and engineers.

Members meet regularly at structured networking events on a local, regional and national level. Quarterly luncheons provide a relaxed atmosphere for members and their guests to network, and are typically attended by 25 to 35 people.
