Harrogate solicitor to chair domestic abuse charity

16 February 2016

A Harrogate solicitor has been appointed chair of a charity that supports victims of domestic abuse.

Claudia Gilham, a family solicitor at Harrogate Family Law, has taken on the role for the North Yorkshire based charity Independent Domestic Abuse Services (IDAS).

IDAS offers advice and services to people affected by domestic abuse, including refuge accommodation, outreach support, free helplines and support workers for children and young people.

Claudia said:

It is an immense privilege to be working with the board of trustees to oversee the strategic development of an organisation that is making such a difference to the lives of victims and their families.

The charity already provides excellent support and our job now is to develop services and resources, address and challenge the root causes of domestic abuse and raise awareness of the help that is available.

As a family solicitor I am only too aware of the devastating effect domestic abuse can have on families and I am looking forward to playing an active role in the organisation as it responds to their needs.
