Resolution appointment for Harrogate lawyer

15 February 2016

A Harrogate lawyer has been appointed to the Yorkshire committee of a national organisation that aims to make divorce and family breakdowns less painful for those involved.

Head of Family at McCormicks Solicitors, Stephen Hopwood, has been appointed to the Yorkshire regional committee of Resolution, where he will also act as Membership Development Officer.

Resolution, formerly known as the Solicitors Family Law Association (SFLA), is an organisation of 6,500 family lawyers and other professionals in England and Wales, who believe in a constructive, non-confrontational approach to family law matters.

The organisation’s Code of Practice has been adopted by the Law Society as recommended good practice for all family lawyers and requires lawyers to encourage their clients to put their differences aside and reach fair agreements.

Stephen said:

Family breakdown is always a difficult, and often a distressing process for all involved. At McCormicks we believe that one of the best ways we can help to reduce the emotional pain is to deliver a constructive, well-structured approach to sorting out the issues in a practical, while compassionate, way, which fits very well with the Resolution Code of Practice.
