North Yorkshire agrees transfer of children’s centre premises to Rossett Acre School

12 December 2015

Rossett-Acre-SchoolNorth Yorkshire County Council’s Executive has agreed a recommendation that children’s centre premises at Rossett should be transferred to Rossett Acre Primary School, Harrogate, for the provision of pre-school places.

The premises, which are on the Rossett Acre site, will provide pre-school places for two, three and four-year-old children, which will be provided by the primary school.

The decision was taken at the Executive’s meeting on Tuesday 8 December 2015.

County Councillor Arthur Barker, Executive Member for the Children and Young People’s Service, said:

We have listened to local people and believe that this transfer of the children’s centre premises to the primary school is the best decision. Rossett children’s centre is within the Harrogate West children’s centre area, so activities previously undertaken there will still be widely available at other local venues.

County Councillor Jim Clark, member for Harrogate Harlow and former chair of governors at Rossett Acres, said:

I am very pleased that the decision has been made to transfer the premises to the school. I was involved in getting the children’s centre established in 2005. This move will enable Rossett Acres to provide pre-school education to help ensure that children are best prepared for the move to school.
