50 parking spaces lost on busy Christmas Saturday as Borough Council fail to remove traffic cones

9 December 2015

Questions are being asked why around 50 car parking spaces remained coned-off and unusable in Harrogate on a busy Saturday coming up to Christmas.

North Yorkshire County Council have said that there was planned work of white lining on Victoria Avenue over the weekend of 5/ 6 December, yet the contractor had broken down on the way and plans had changed. Harrogate Borough Council had coned the road on behalf of County Council, who are the Highways authority.

Borough Council had failed to remove the cones on Friday, 4 December when they had been asked to do so by Highways, with the result that there was a reduced number of parking spaces for shoppers.

We are awaiting comment from Harrogate Borough Council.
