Disability Action Yorkshire regains two coveted quality “people” standards

A Harrogate charity has retained two coveted quality standards for the way in which it manages and supports its people.

Following two intensive assessments – which saw a cross section of the organisation’s workforce, service users, trustees and volunteers being interviewed – Hornbeam Park-based Disability Action Yorkshire has again been awarded the Matrix and Investors in People standards.

The Matrix Standard is the unique quality standard for organisations to assess and measure their advice and support services, which ultimately supports individuals in their choice of career, learning, work and life goals.

the Investors in People Standard is underpinned by a rigorous assessment methodology and a framework which reflects the very latest workplace trends, essential skills and effective structures required to outperform in any industry.

In the report to Matrix, the assessor praised Disability Action Yorkshire for having “demonstrated their commitment to engaging effectively with staff at all levels,  and to giving service users access to the highest calibre support and resources in order to help them develop self-confidence, enhance skills, reinforce positive behaviours and assist them in their transition to independent living wherever possible.”

Disability Action Yorkshire chief executive Jackie Snape said:

We are delighted to have retained both our Matrix and Investors in People awards.

We work very hard on ensuring all those associated with the charity – service users, volunteers, staff and trustees alike – are at the heart of everything we do.

We take our people very seriously indeed.

However, we will not be resting on our laurels.

As a result of the assessment we will be looking to even further improve some of our processes to be more outcomes focused, and will be further harnessing the talent that exists in our wonderful staff team.
