Members of the armed forces have been meeting visitors to Lightwater Valley theme park as part of Red, White & Blue Day, a national fundraising campaign run annually by military charities.

The Chairman of North Yorkshire County Council, Cllr. David Jeffels was a special guest at the Ripon attraction and met soldiers who were there to explain to visitors about the work of the armed forces around the world.

It’s all part of a range of events which are taking place across the UK and is an opportunity for families to get dressed in red, white and blue to support the work of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, and The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity. Each of these charities is responsible for the welfare of soldiers, sailors, airmen and their families.

Mark Bainbridge, general manager at Lightwater Valley, said:

It was a great day, customers were able to gain half-price entry by showing their support for the troops and wearing red, white and blue colours.

Once inside the theme park they were able to meet a range of military personnel, explore their vehicles and aircraft, enjoy the sound of military bands and engage in fun and challenging activities.

Everyone at Lightwater Valley is proud to support the work of all our armed forces.
