York Place in Harrogate to be resurfaced

23 May 2015

North Yorkshire County Council is to resurface York Place in Harrogate between North Park Road and Queen Parade.

York Place has been highlighted as a priority for repair and the work is being done as part of the County Council’s capital highways programme.

Work is scheduled to begin on Tuesday 26 May and last for five nights between 7pm and midnight, during which time the road will be closed. A diversion will be signposted and local residents and businesses have been informed by letter.

This will restrict vehicular access to properties directly affected. Wherever possible, the contractors will accommodate requests for access, but this will not be possible in sections of the closure where work is under way. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

To facilitate the work, people are asked to remove vehicles from the road before 7pm during the period of the work.

County Councillor Don Mackenzie, executive member for highways, said: We appreciate that this is a residential area and apologise for any inconvenience that these works may cause. Our contractor will work at night to keep disruption to a minimum, and we will ensure the works are completed as quickly as possible. When complete, the work will add to the continuing improvements to Harrogate’s road network.
