6 May 2015

Local business Chatterton Tuition Ltd have announced that they have reached a record number of students who have passed through their doors since launch in 2008. This month the 2,000th student, Harry Clifford, booked himself onto a Biology GCSE Group Revision Session which takes place on Sunday 10 May 2015.

According to the Telegraph Media Group (2015) tutoring is a great British growth industry, worth £6.5 billion a year. In 2001, 270,000 tutors taught 1.6 million children. Last year, 520,000 tutors taught 2.8 million pupils.

Sara Chatterton, a Birmingham University Maths Graduate, started working from home whilst her children were at school. Students consistently did well with her, and in no time she was in high demand. Now based in offices in Copgrove, and working alongside husband Phil and sister Jane, Chatterton Tuition firmly remains a family affair, with students and their families at the heart of what they do. With over 150 tutors now on their books, Chatterton Tuition Ltd are pleased to be contributing to the local economy as well as educating, supporting and building confidence in children and youngsters from 5 to 18 years.

In keeping with their altruistic bent, Chatterton Tuition have recently teamed up with local charity the Jenny Unwin Appeal to raise funds and awareness for Jenny, a teenager who was knocked off her bicycle near Bishop Monkton only days before Le Tour de France hit Harrogate, sadly with severe life changing injuries.

With a percentage being donated to the Jenny Unwin Appeal, a brand new series of Group Revision Sessions are already underway, supporting GCSE/iGCSE and A Level students sitting exams this Summer. The Revision Groups are specifically tailored to provide valuable and constructive tutor led revision sessions of 6 hours duration each.

Sara said: As keen cyclists ourselves, we felt really touched by Jenny’s story and wanted to help as much as possible. There will also be several fun Activity Workshops taking place for primary school children during the school holidays, and these will raise a donation for Jenny too.
