Harrogate police have released a CCTV image as they appeal for a man to come forward after a suspicious incident at a school in the town.

It occurred at around 10.15am on Tuesday 30 September 2014, at St Aidan’s High School, Oatlands Drive.

The man entered the school and refused to leave when he was asked to do so by a member of staff. He was escorted from the property a short time later.

He did not approach or speak to any of the pupils at the school.

The man is described as a white man, aged around 30, with light brown hair and having a chubby face. At the time he was wearing a blue shirt and jeans and carrying a black holdall.

PC Andy Hanson, of Harrogate Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: There may be a perfectly innocent reason that the man entered the school. If this is the case, I urge him to get in touch straight away, so that I can clear the issue up.

I am also keen to speak to anyone who recognises the man and ask them to get in touch as soon as possible.

Anyone who can help to identify the man caught on CCTV should contact Harrogate police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Andy Hanson.

Alternatively, information can be emailed to Andy.hanson@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
