Yorkshire’s biggest airline, Jet2.com, has celebrated the official opening of its new £9.5 million state-of-the-art Training Centre, marking yet further growth and investment in the region.

The 32,232 sq ft facility, based on Bradford’s Euroway Industrial Estate, is a first for Yorkshire and the only one in the North which has been specifically designed as a fully integrated Simulator and Cabin Safety and Emergency Procedures (SEP) training centre for both flight deck and cabin crew.

  • £9.5 million investment cements commitment to Yorkshire
  • Purpose built centre of excellence for pilots and crew a first for the region
  • 100+ guests celebrate at official ribbon cutting ceremony

Housing three flight simulators, unique cabin crew trainer units, a high-tech Computer Based Training (CBT) room for pilots and fully equipped classrooms and briefing rooms, Jet2.com has created a centre of excellence. It will provide an unrivalled quality of training for both new recruits and the airline’s existing 579 pilots, 24 pilot apprentices and 960 cabin crew.

Following a special ribbon cutting ceremony involving Philip Meeson (executive chairman), Steve Heapy (CEO), Ian Doubtfire (Managing Director) and Deputy Lord Mayor Roger L’Amie (City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council), the 100+ guests were treated to a tour of the industry leading centre which included an exhilarating experience in one of the simulators!

Ian Doubtfire, Managing Director of Jet2.com, said: This is undoubtedly a very exciting day for us and we are very proud to be opening such a unique facility in our home region.

Our fleet and crew are ever expanding to meet the continued growth and success of both the airline and our Jet2holidays business so it seemed like the right time to establish our own Training Centre.

It is a fantastic facility which will make a significant impact on the way we train and develop our staff. It allows us to deliver the very best bespoke training programmes to ensure that both our pilots and cabin crew provide the safe and friendly flight experience our customers have come to expect.

Councillor Roger L’Amie, Deputy Lord Mayor of the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council, which supported the funding, added: This is further good news for Bradford. Jet2.com’s decision to base its Training Centre here reinforces how committed it is to Yorkshire, bringing even more growth and investment to the region and further developing our talented local workforce.

We are thrilled to have been able to support the airline in its ambition to create such a top class training facility.
