North Yorkshire Police’s Special Constabulary gain more Officers

22 news Special Constables have completed their training with North Yorkshire Police.

Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Ken McIntosh, hosted the event at North Yorkshire Police Headquarters, Newby Wiske, on Wednesday 10 September 2014.

The officers were attested in front of Mr John Seymour, Chair of the Bench of Northallerton Magistrates.

Working alongside their regular colleagues on the beat, the Special Constables will undertake at least four hours of duty each week.

The newly attested officers bring the number of Special Constables in North Yorkshire Police to 152.

They come from a range of backgrounds including working in the NHS, students, a fitness instructor, fulltime parents, a brand development manager for a food company and a restaurant manager.

Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Ken McIntosh, said: I am extremely proud to have had the privilege of welcoming these new Special Constables into the policing family.

Members of the Special Constabulary display a fantastic commitment to keeping the communities across North Yorkshire and City of York safe place to live and work.

I know from personal experience how much their contribution is valued by their regular colleagues.

Specials bring a wealth of experience with them which enhances the service we offer the public.
