Teenager in York ejected through window during collision

Police are investigating after a green Citroen Saxo crashed into a hedge on Towthorpe Road – a back road between Haxby and Strensall – resulting in a 16-year-old male passenger being ejected from the car through a window.

The incident is a serious single vehicle collision which happened in the Haxby area of York at around 8.50pm on Monday (8 September 2014).

The 16-year-old suffered a head injury and was taken by ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary where his condition is described as “serious”.

Four other male occupants in the car – a 17-year-old driver, a 17-year-old and two 16-year-olds all from York – were taken to York District Hospital by ambulance where they received treatment to minor injuries.

Police closed the stretch of road while a full investigation was conducted at the collision scene. The car also had to be recovered and debris cleared from the road by the council. The road re-opened at about 3.05am on Tuesday (9 September).

Witnesses to the collision or anyone who can recall seeing the green Citroen Saxo car prior to the incident, are urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask for Kenneth England.
