Careless driving incident as car overtakes ambulance responding to call

Police are appealing for witnesses in a case of careless driving incident near Harrogate when car overtook a ambulance.

At sometime between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on Wednesday 13 August 2014, an ambulance was responding to an emergency call along the B6165.

As the emergency vehicle travelled between Pateley Bridge and Harrogate it was overtaken by a grey Volkswagen Golf on the approach to Burnt Yates.

The Golf then overtook at least one other vehicle before pulling over for the ambulance as it caught up at Bedlam. The Golf then followed the ambulance to Ripley, where it turned off towards Knaresborough.

The ambulance continued its journey towards Harrogate.

Officers are appealing to anyone who saw either vehicle travelling along the B6165 to come forward with information.
