Two men arrested over suspicious fire in Harrogate released on bail

The two men arrested in connection with a suspicious fire in Harrogate have been released on bail to allow for further police enquiries.

They are aged 33 and 26, both from Harrogate, and had been arrested earlier today.

The fire occurred at around 2.50am on Sunday 24 August 2014, at a property on Scargill Road, it was reported to the police by the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.

A woman aged 19 and a 24-year-old man were the property at the time. The man was taken to Harrogate District Hospital and received treatment for the effects of smoke inhalation. The woman did not require any medical assistance.

The fire caused extensive smoke damage to all rooms and fire damage to one of the ground floor rooms.
