Former G4 singer to headline Yorkshire charity concert

24 August 2014

Jonathan Ansell, the singer best known for his time in vocal group G4, will headline a concert to mark the twentieth anniversary of Yorkshire charity, the Avalon Group.

The 32-year-old vocalist, who recently relocated to Leeds, will perform at the concert on 27 September 2014 in Harrogate’s St Wilfrid’s Church on Duchy Road.

Ansell – who rose to fame after performing with G4 in the first series of X-Factor in 2004 – has sold over two million albums, including those in his solo career after the group’s 2007 split.

Award-winning charity, the Avalon Group – founded in 1994 and located on Harrogate’s Grove Park Court – provides flexible care, support and companionship for everyday life, as well as housing, learning and employment, supporting a wide range of individuals across the North of England so that they can live the lives they choose.

To mark 20 years of providing support to people across Yorkshire and the North East, this year the group is inviting the public to join in its celebrations, including a concert, fun day and the release of a song with all proceeds fed back into the charity.

Jonathan said: I am over the moon to be able to support this fabulous local charity by performing my first fully acoustic concert since I was at music college over ten years ago!

The support that Avalon has been offering the community over the last 20 years is invaluable, and it is with delight that I play my small part in helping them to continue this work for at least 20 more.

I have recently relocated from London to North Leeds, and to be able to share my music within the local community, and to be able to help raise invaluable funds through Avalon, is a real thrill.

With the support of my fabulous accompanist and the addition of other incredible performers we hope to create a truly magical evening that appeals to all.
It will Include songs from Opera, Musical Theatre and those Popular Classics you know and love.

Larry Hollando, Avalon Group CEO, said: We were delighted when Jonathan agreed to help us celebrate Avalon Group’s twentieth anniversary.

We’ve been striving to help people live the life of their choosing through our flexible support and fantastic carers for 20 years, and we think that’s well worth celebrating.

We’re inviting all to join in the celebrations and reflect on what we have achieved in the last 20 years, but also to raise awareness of the importance of this work.

Our aging population* means that this care and support will only ever grow in importance and it’s important to remember that neither age nor ailment should prohibit people from living the life of their choosing.

That’s why we do what we do, and we hope to continue doing it for many more years to come.

Tickets, priced at £20 which include wine and canapés, are available from the Harrogate branch of the Yorkshire Building Society on Oxford Street, or by contacting Carolyn Reynard at Avalon on 01423 530053
