Impressive results for Rossett students

21 August 2014

Rossett School in Harrogate is celebrating after its GCSE students achieved another impressive set of exam results.

Overall, 96 per cent of pupils got at least five GCSEs at A*-G and a total of 85 per cent of pupils achieved at least five A*-C grades.
Meanwhile, 70 per cent gained five passes including English and maths – the Government’s gold standard for GCSEs – and there was a six per cent rise in the number achieving the English baccalaureate (passes in English, maths, science, a foreign language and either history or geography) compared to 2013.

Headteacher Pat Hunter said: There has been a lot of pressure on this year’s GCSE students and I am very proud of the way they have dealt with it.

Changes to government policy have made it harder for them to achieve the high grades of previous years, yet they have put in even more effort to ensure they got the best possible results.

Our students have worked exceptionally hard during their time with us and they thoroughly deserve their success. Along with all the staff at Rossett, I am extremely proud of them all and wish them every success for the future.

As well as strong overall results for the school, some individual students achieved particularly impressive grades.

Students who achieved at least 10 A* and A grades, or got straight As and A*s were: Rosie Brown, Byron Akarsu, Lydia Valentine, Flo Milner, Alexander Dallas, Lauren Dolman, Ellen Dunn, Marina Tapley, Katy Scott, Jevohna England , Rob Noble, Jack Firth, Jack Lowerson-Squires, Megan Terzza, Harry Brecken, James Nassiri, Holly Wardman, Samantha Lindsay, Jack Smith, Megan Fairweather, Amber Groves, Hannah Morrow and Shida Marquaye.
