20 August 2014

Over 2,300 visitors flocked to The Yorkshire Event Centre in Harrogate for Motability’s One Big Day event on 14 August 2014. The free family day out offered disabled people the chance to find out more about the range of cars, scooters and powered wheelchairs available to lease through the Scheme.

Hosted by Motability, the event showcased more than 50 cars from 13 manufacturers, as well as over 30 models of scooters and a wide range of car adaptations and Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles. More than 240 test drives were taken in a range of 30 cars to give disabled people the chance to get a real feel for which vehicles might suit their individual needs.

Visitors to the One Big Day event were able to talk to Motability advisors and gather a range of helpful information, while enjoying a great day out with their friends and families. Younger visitors made the most of the KidZone where they played on the bouncy castle and enjoyed free face painting as well as the opportunity to meet the Motability mascot ‘Billy the Bear’.

Luke Snowden, One Big Day event manager, said: It was incredible to see so many people enjoying the One Big Day event in Yorkshire. Our aim is to provide disabled motorists with a chance to explore all their motoring options in one accessible location whilst having a fun day out too. We’ve had a great summer of events in 2014, it’s been fantastic to welcome so many people interested in finding out how the Motability Scheme can help them. We are currently in the planning stages for next year’s events and look forward to sharing more information of what’s to come in the next few months.
