Harrogate bookmakers robbery

Detectives in Harrogate are appealing for help to locate a man in connection a knife-point robbery at a bookmakers.

The incident happened at Coral on Knaresborough Road at around 8pm on Thursday 31 July 2014.

The suspect threatened a member of staff with a knife before making off on foot with a quantity of cash.

Nobody was harmed but the staff member was left very shaken by the ordeal.

Extensive searches were carried out by a team of officers on Thursday evening and during the early hours of Friday in the effort to locate the man.

Patrols have been stepped up in the area to reassure local residents while the investigation continues.

As part of the ongoing enquiries, detectives are appealing to members of the public for any information that could help trace the suspect and assist the investigation.

He is described as white and his face was covered by a dark garment and a dark hat. He was wearing a dark jacket and he was carrying a dark holdall bag.

Detective Constable Fiona Ayre, of Harrogate CID, said: We are doing everything we can to investigate this very concerning incident which has left the member of staff in a state of shock.

To help our enquires, we are urging any witnesses or people with information about the suspect to come forward without delay.

It happened at a fairly busy time of day with people walking and driving in the area, so please get in touch if you recall seeing a man dressed in dark clothing and carrying a holdall either before or after the robbery at around 8pm. Even the smallest piece of information could be very important.
