Authorities continue to monitor the Alexander Court Care Home

29 July 2014

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) have confirmed that on Thursday evening (24 July 2014) they formally served an urgent notice on Esteem Care Limited, imposing a condition that meant nursing care could no longer be provided at their Alexander Court Nursing Home in Harrogate.

This followed the removal of all nursing patience and their safe relocation by the Local Authority.

Debbie Westhead, CQC’s Deputy Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care in the North said: Following further concerns identified on our most recent inspection of Alexander Court, we have used our urgent powers to prevent the home from providing nursing care services.

All residents requiring nursing care have now been safely relocated to alternative placements in the local area.

We are liaising directly with North Yorkshire County Council and local commissioners to safeguard the well-being of everyone who lives at the home and continue to monitor the situation closely.

A spokesperson for Esteem Care Limited said: The CQC have decided to remove Alexander Court’s nursing registration and the home has complied with this decision which was finalised last week.

With regard to these recent developments, we would like to confirm that all residents with Residential Care requirements (all of those not requiring nursing care) will continue to be cared for in the Home.

Alexander Court remains dedicated to the safeguarding of all clients; and with the management every measure is being taken to maintain a safe environment. As an organisation Esteem care is now and has always been committed to the continual development of the quality and care within Alexander Court.

The owners, along with a new management team, have been working with the CQC regarding concerns that have been brought to their  attention to make further improvements.
