Harrogate athlete wins Junior trials and selection for GB

Local Harrogate resident and St John Fishers Student, Jacob Fincham-Dukes excelled himself at the recent UK U20 National Championships/World Trials in Bedford winning the Long Jump Gold Medal jumping a massive 7metres 61cms, a new personal best by 40cms.

harrogate-athleticHis last round jump as a 17 year old placed him no 1 in the Uk for athletes under 20 years of age and moved him to no 3 in the world youth rankings (u18).

His achievement was all the more astonishing in that by winning the trials and jumping the required 7m 60 qualifying, standard, he gained automatic selection for the Great Britain Junior squad for the World Junior Championships to be held in Oregon USA from 22-27 July 2014. Jacob has also been selected to represent GB at the Mannheim International In Germany on the 5th and 6th July.

Jacob is thrilled that he has the opportunity to represent his country at such a prestigious event.
