Harrogate quantity surveyor’s charity skydive

25 June 2014

A 19-year-old quantity surveyor from Harrogate will be ascending into the clouds next month in the name of charity.

On 12 July 2014, Joe Wright, who works for Pannal-based Cooper and Hall, will take part in a tandem skydive to raise money for the town’s Saint Michael’s Hospice.

Joe, a former St Aidan’s pupil who is more at home playing table tennis than leaping from an aeroplane at 3,000ft, aims to raise in excess of £400 from his daredevil jump.

And, with just over three weeks until the event – which is taking place in the skies above Hibaldstow Airfield, in Lincolnshire, – Joe has already managed to raise more than half of his target total.

Joe said: Over the last few years a number of my colleagues at Cooper and Hall have completed a number of fund-raising activities, and this has inspired me to undertake my own challenge.

I am not a marathon runner and so I thought skydiving would be something different.

Even though I have never done anything like this before I’m not nervous. I’m really looking forward to it and more than anything it’s about raising money for Saint Michael’s Hospice.

My colleagues have been really generous and I’m hoping for support from business in Pannal Business Park where we are based.

Saint Michael’s is a wonderful charity and it would be great to not only reach my target, but smash it!

If anyone would like to support Joe, they can do so by sponsoring him via his Just Giving page, found at www.JustGiving.com/joewright95/
