Young celebrate learning success

24 June 2014

Young people from around North Yorkshire have been celebrating success in the county council’s Personalised Learning Pathways programme.

The programme – introduced three years ago – provides specialist education for people who require a very personalised learning structure. It aims to equip them for independent living, employment and personal progress.

The celebration event, held at Ripon Racecourse, marked the successes of a number young people who have completed their personalised programme and who are now moving on into mainstream FE college provision, Supported Internships and community options.

County Councillor Tony Hall, the Executive Member for the Children’s and Young People’s Service said: The success of these young people who have completed their pathway and who are now moving into other opportunities in adulthood shows the effectiveness of local Personalised Learning Pathways.

Working in partnership with a number of key agencies, including FE Colleges, health professionals, careers officers, employment services, and staff at special schools, the Pathways make a real difference to people’s lives, helping them to move successfully from their teenage years into adulthood.

The Pathways scheme has also won praise from the Department for Education and was a finalist this year in the Local Government Chronicle Awards.
