Police investigate Harrogate taxi queue assault

20 June 2014

Police are appealing for witnesses after four people were assaulted in Harrogate.

At around 1.10am on Saturday 15 June 2014, a man and a woman jumped a taxi queue on The Ginnel. A group of four people who were next in line objected to their actions and remonstrated with them.

The man then got out of the taxi and assaulted all four members of the group – two men and two women – before getting back in the vehicle.

The taxi drove away and stopped further up the road at the Travelodge, where the couple got out.

The man is described as white, with a skinny build. He was wearing a checked shirt and blue jeans.

The woman he was with was white, with a skinny build and long brown hair. She was wearing a black dress.

Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them with information.

Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for PC Adam Smith or Harrogate police.
